Hello everyone, thank you for reading this. My new record is almost here and I am very excited for you to hear it. Recorded in New Orleans in 2011, it is a mix of originals and choice, deep covers and it is unlike any record that I have put out before. The band is George Porter Jr. on bass, Ivan Neville on keys, Anders Osborne on guitar, and Simon Lott on drums. The title is For Higher. The release date is May 15th, but you can hear it sooner than that.
I have begun a PledgeMusic campaign to allow me to properly release For Higher on my own. Pre-order downloads will be available on April 15th, one month before the album is available anywhere else. All of the funds raised will allow this music to be heard by more people, and I can't thank you enough for your help. You made this possible and you continue to do that with your listening. There are some fun incentives on the page and some exclusive content on the way. Check out the video...

Ryan had a blast on Jam Cruise 10 and was honored to be there as a solo performer. Highlights included singing "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" with Galactic, "Love Rears It's Ugly Head" with Living Colour's own Corey Glover, picking tunes until dawn with Nathan Moore and Brad Barr on the starboard deck, and generally getting his mind blown by great music all around. A blog will be forthcoming...

There's no place we'd rather be than the beautiful state of Vermont to ring in 2012. The band has put together two special nights of music with some of our favorite acts in the northeast. A portion of the proceeds from every ticket sold will be donated to the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund to help those devastated by Hurricane Irene. Hotel and lift ticket deals have been arranged and some special activities are in the works.

On August 18th, 2011 Ryan Montbleau Band recorded a new live record in the bottom floor of a beautiful brownstone on Newbury Street in Boston, MA. The amazing folks at Life is good cleared out the entire bottom floor of their headquarters and flagship store and together with the band, threw a party and put on a show. Live at Life is good is the result.

It's been a long time coming, but we're finally getting back on track with our Live Bleauleg Series recordings. We have some new gear, a new process, a revised artwork template and a host of other changes, new formats, and added goodies.
Starting today we're offering two new shows online, along with a slightly older but popular release. All three Bleaulegs can be downloaded for a special low price that's only good from now through midnight EST this Sunday, June12th.
Each offering is about 75 minutes long as they have been tailored to fit on a CD, and we'll be adding the option to purchase these official Bleaulegs on CD starting next week. This means that for some shows (like 12/19/10 and 12/31/10) there are songs that were edited out. If you're wondering about full-length shows, yes, we have plans to release select dates in download-only formats. The first will be the 12/31/10 NYE show, and we will be releasing that next week as well... stay tuned for more.

On May 9th, Ryan went into Fudge Studios in New Orleans, LA, and tracked an entire record in two days. The band for the session was an all-star dream lineup of New Orleans players: George Porter Jr. on bass, Ivan Neville on keys, Anders Osborne on guitar, and Simon Lott on drums. Produced by Ben Ellman of Galactic, the new album will contain new and original songs as well as cover tunes. It is set to be released in the fall of 2011.
Ryan Montbleau Band is also planning on recording later this year for a 2012 release.

With a heavy heart, the Ryan Montbleau Band announces their first lineup change in 6 years. Violist Laurence Scudder will be leaving the band to pursue other musical interests and take on the world as the rockingest violist around. Laurence has been an integral part of the band's sound for the last 7 years, well over 1,000 shows, and three studio albums. His signature sound and presence will be sorely missed but the band will forge ahead with Laurence's blessing and best wishes.
To help fill the void left by Laurence, the band is excited to welcome Lyle Brewer on guitar. Lyle is a recent graduate from the New England Conservatory of Music and has toured nationally with Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles. His incredible musicianship, professionalism, and mustache have made him one of the top-call live and session guitarists in Boston.
Thank you all out there for listening. This is not a change that we take lightly by any means, and we are looking forward to the many musical journeys ahead.

The band went to NPR's national headquarters in Washington, DC this week to record a live performance and interview for All Things Considered. The show will air on Thanksgiving Day. (Please check your local NPR affiliate's schedule for All Things Considered.)
Also, the band began a run of shows with JJ Grey & Mofro this week that will take us all over the northeast, including a Thanksgiving sandwich on Boston-and-Brooklyn bread. So far the shows have been a blast!

The band just finished 11 days at Camp Street Studios in Cambridge, MA, tracking for the upcoming record. Martin Sexton was there from start to finish as the producer extraordinaire. These 13 new tracks are due out in September. Stay tuned for more details and sneak peeks in the coming weeks, freaks!

Ryan Montbleau Band will be opening Martin Sexton's entire “Sugarcoating” tour this spring. In addition to opening, we will also be Martin's backing band for the tour. We're currently practicing and rehearsing like crazy to get ready for what will surely be some amazing shows. It's on, folks! Peep the dates. In addition, we will be Mr. Sexton's band at Bonnaroo, New Orleans Jazz Fest, and a four-night run opening for Dave Matthews Band.
We're also finalizing material to head into the studio in March. A new album will be released this fall. Details soon...
Ryan made some very special recordings of some very special solo-acoustic shows in March of this year. The best of the best of these performances made it onto Stages: Volume II. If you weren't there, or if you were and regret leaving, you'll probably want a copy.

Listen to samples and get your own copy.
Proceeds from Stages: Volume II go toward the making of the next Ryan Montbleau Band studio record, due out in 2010.
Lost in the wilderness (with a boat and camera), this man was forced to choose between eating his dead pet fish or his Ryan Montbleau Band shirt. He ate both because he loved them equally.

In what is probably the closest any member of the band will ever get to Machu Picchu, fan Kevin Calnan (who looks remarkably like this man) made his way wearing a Ryan Montbleau Band t-shirt. What was he wearing under the shirt? If he's a real fan then it would have been a tattoo of the shirt.

A new band record is in the planning stages and here’s the deal: we need your help.
Ryan Montbleau Band is still a completely independent operation over here. We found distribution for our last record Patience on Friday through a record label, but that only means they help us get the CD in stores. We run our own ship. We paid to make that record and are still paying for it.
And we’re dying to make another one. So we moved into a house together this very week and new material is already well in the works. Studio time is being booked for this summer and fall, but we’re simply not in a position to fund another record on credit. Many people have already written in, asking how they can contribute directly to the cause. A PayPal link has been set up for that...
If you would love to hear another record from Ryan Montbleau Band, we would love your help! Proceeds from the upcoming solo-acoustic release Stages: Volume II will go directly towards making the new band record. I’ll also be doing a series of house concerts in September to raise money for the recording. More info, and more incentives are on the way.
But in the meantime, consider buying the solo record to help us make the big, bad, band one! Drop-cards are on sale now and you can unlock bonus tracks immediately.
Much love to all of you and thank you for getting us this far! There is so much more on the way...
And so does democracy. In 2008 we donated a portion of ticket sales to two wonderful organizations: Rock the Earth and HeadCount. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to send about $4000 to these worthwhile causes. Nice work, you! Way to go!
Ryan is embarking on a six-show solo acoustic tour. These shows are being recorded for the Stages: Volume II album.
Aside from limited edition screen-printed posters, there will be special pre-order download cards for sale which will allow you to download Stages: Volume II way before it comes out. They will also allow you to unlock a ton of bonus material (extra songs, video, deals at the store) in the coming months. For all others, the album will be released September 1st.

Our great friend Zach Deputy had his truck stolen in Paramus, NJ last Friday. All of his instruments, equipment, sound system, you-name-it was on that truck. Just an absolutely crushing loss for a one-of-a-kind performer who spends his life on the road... Please, we encourage you to check out this link and help out a brother in need!
Ryan.
As the shows continue, there is much going on behind the scenes...
After months of deliberations, we're excited to announce that we have found new management. 525 Worldwide is a smart organization of folks (two guys, actually) who have done a great job over the years managing artists we respect. We're delighted and honored to work with these guys, and I feel they are a really great fit. May we continue to follow our vision in and around this insane industry!
Upward and onward,
Ryan.
Hello out there, good people! Check this out: As you may or may not know, we are an independent operation over here and always have been. That means that we run our own business, make and put out our own records, and put our own team together to navigate the waters of this funny industry.
Continuing in that effort, we've just signed a North American distribution deal for our album Patience on Friday! The folks at Rocket Science / Adrenaline Music Group have agreed to market, promote and put this record in stores coast to coast. We still own the music, this just allows it to reach more ears.
Nice! Thanks, Adrenaline. Upward and onward as always, folks. I do believe we just signed a record deal that makes sense!
When we made Patience on Friday in Woodstock last year, we recorded a few extra tracks that didn't quite make it on to the album. These are some old favorites that feature Buddy Cage (of New Riders of the Purple Sage, Bob Dylan, etc.) on pedal steel.
Now you can download these tracks: "Already There" and "You Crazy You" from our online store. These are mixed, mastered, and every bit as delicious as the album cuts. Enjoy...
-Ryan
The 2007 Boston Music Award Best Local Male Vocalist winner Ryan Montbleau has now won the second prize in the 2007 International Songwriter's Competition, as well as third place in the related People's Choice Award. Ryan Montbleau's song "If It Comes Around," from 2007's critically acclaimed album Patience On Friday, took second place from more than 15,000 songs written by amateur and professional songwriters from over 100 countries.
Judges included Tom Waits, Nellie Furtado, Ray Davies, Loretta Lynn, Frank Black and many others. Following the first round, in which Ryan Montbleau Band was a nominee in three categories for three different songs, "If It Comes Around" was chosen as a finalist for the Performance category. The public was then allowed to participate in The People's Choice Award by casting their votes from among the nominees.
If you've heard the new album, and wished that How Many Times? had never been split up into multiple tracks, now it's like it never was. That's right, we've combined them into one single song just for you!
